The WOTC is a federal tax credit available to employers who invest in American job seekers who have consistently faced barriers to employment. Employers may meet their business needs and claim a tax credit if they hire an individual who is in a WOTC targeted group.
Apply for WOTC to reduce your federal income tax liability as much as $9,600 per target employee. There's no limit to the number of qualified employees you can claim!
To apply for these tax credits, Maine employers need to register and enter their applications with in 28 days of hire.

- Qualified IV-A ("TANF") recipient
- Qualified Veteran
- Qualified Ex-Felon
- Designated Community Resident
- Vocational Rehabilitation Referral
- Summer Youth Employee
- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP or "food stamps") recipient
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipient
- Long-term Family Assistance (Long-term TANF) recipient
- Qualified Long-term Unemployment recipient
